Questo 2017 ha segnato la morte (quasi) definitiva delle chitarre elettriche. Un funerale al quale pochi di noi avrebbero voluto partecipare. Anche chi ne faceva abbondante uso, oggi tende a un suono sempre più sintetico e scarnificato (vedi The National). L’ultimo album di Beck, per dirne una, suona come uno qualsiasi dei Phoenix. La stessa St Vincent, per dirne un’altra, ha aggiunto una dose massiccia di elettronica ai propri brani.

Che è successo dunque? Si sono tutti ammosciati? L’anima rock si è persa? Non proprio. Sembra che a veicolare la rabbia, in questi tempi bui per la politica internazionale e in particolare americana, non siano più soltanto gli strumenti tradizionali, ma i testi sprezzanti e disillusi legati a un sound derivativo, a volte ispirato al post-punk (Lcd Soundsystem) e altre volte al pop più genuino.

Gli esperti dicono che è soltanto una questione di moda. È una ruota che gira. La musica, come l’abbigliamento, vive di tormentoni che ciclicamente ritornano. Qualcuno resiste, per carità. Anche il cantautorato indie-folk sembra aver retto il colpo. Ma nella nostra classifica dei migliori dischi stranieri compaiono per la prima volta artisti che solitamente hanno poco a che fare con il nostro mondo. Non è un male, anzi, viva l’eterogenità. Ma di certo è un segno del cambiamento.

Insomma, abbiamo votato un centinaio di dischi stranieri e abbiamo messo in ordine i 20 titoli che hanno ricevuto più voti. Qui sotto trovate la classifica generale in rigoroso ordine crescente, dal ventesimo al primo posto, e poi le classifiche personali di ciascuno di noi.   3. Nana Grizol – Ursa Minor. Abbiamo le BMX, la focaccia alta della pam, la cocacola grande e un paio di coperte. Stanotte non dormiamo, andiamo al pratone a vedere le stelle con le mani dietro la tesa. Ok? Non diciamolo a nessun’altro, ok? Ok zio.
  4. Warhaus – S/T. Il Belgio ipodermico, le calze umide, i rutti delle triple, i taxi marci che ti portano dove cazzo vogliano loro. Non sono lacrime, stai calmo, è solo la pioggia che ti cola addosso. Lasciala scivolare.
  5. White Reaper – The Most Best American’s Band. Lavarsi i denti con il fuzz e vomitare arcobaleni pieni di teschietti glitterati. Sorridere come Jim Carry in Ace Ventura l’acchiappanimali. Ah.
  6. Figure Walking – The Big Other. Sprazzi di epicità fuori contesto. Esempio? Reparto surgelati, guardarsi intorno sospettosi e fare il gesto dell’arringatore da statua romana. Sguardo fiero e ostensione del braccio destro. Non ridere.
  7. Goon Sax – Up to Anything. I pomeriggi di pioggia ad ascoltare i Go Betweens con il naso appoggiato alla finestra. Musicasetta per favore non vinile.
  8. Courtney Barnett & Kurt Vile – Lotta Sea Slice. Flussi di coscienza che si incrociano come gli “acceleratori nucleari non autorizzati di Peter Venkman. Due anime libere in fluttuazione, imprendibili, intrappolabili.
  9. Weezer – Pacific Daydream. Invecchiare e continuare ad essere fighi con pochi accordi e due pensieri buttati lì a caso. Essere fighi senza vocoder, senza snapchat, senza risvoltini. Essere fighi essendo semplicemente sè stessi.
  10. Louise Burns – Young Mopes. Un bagnetto rilassante nel fango dei tuoi sedici anni. Brufolazzi?
