Sembra quasi surreale questa mattina leggere “È morto il Duca Bianco”. Tre giorni fa, l’8 gennaio, David Bowie aveva festeggiato il suo 69esimo compleanno e l’uscita del suo ultimo – ora definitivamente l’ultimo – album, Blackstar. Il giorno precedente era stato pubblicato anche il nuovo video Lazarus in cui Bowie appare come l’amico di Gesù che avvolto dalle bende risorge dalla morte. Non potrà essere fisicamente così, ma la sua presenza sarà ovviamente eterna nella tradizione musicale.

L’annuncio è stato dato questa mattina sui vari social. “David Bowie è morto il pace circondato dalla sua famiglia dopo una coraggiosa battaglia di 18 mesi contro il cancro”. Anche il figlio ne dà il triste annuncio.
Eh sì, il cancro. È questa la bestia nera che avrebbe stroncato la contagiosa e rivoluzionaria energia di Bowie.
Tutto è iniziato a metà degli anni Sessanta, periodo in cui Bowie ha iniziato a invadere il mondo con la sua musica per ben cinque decenni, dando ogni volta un tocco nuovo sia al suo stile e alla sua immagine, da Ziggy Stardust a Halloween Jack,  da Nathan Adler al The Thin White Duke – Duca Bianco. Dal folk acustico all’elettronica, passando attraverso il glam rock, il soul e il krautrock, David Bowie ha lasciato la sua impronta nella storia musicale mondiale, da cui hanno molti artisti.

Mia Tyler – Saddened to hear David Bowie has passed on. I was never a huge Bowie fan, but my mama was. And he was a good friend to her. Putting her in his Gene Genie video. I grew up hearing all sorts of stories about how wonderful Bowie was. I remember when my mom was sick with her cancer and we had a benefit for her hospital bills, Bowie donated a signed guitar for the auction. I’ll always have a space in my heart towards him for always being so good to my mama. I’d like to think Cyrinda had her brightest red lipstick and highest hi heals on waiting for him to join her wherever spirits go to hang out in the next world. Hopefully they are sharing smiles like these again, watching over all the people they love. Rest In Power cool one.
